Aloha and welcome to the Moku O Keawe International Festival.

As the coordinator for the Hula Competition I would like to welcome you to the world of hula ‘big island style” as our purpose is to bring to the Big Island hula hālau and hula enthusiasts from all parts of the globe. We are excited to share our part of Hawaii with all of you. As Kumu Hula of the Hula Halau Na Lei O Kaholoku, I can understand the focus and determination it takes to prepare for a competition and I honor your commitment to hula and the cultural arts.

This year the Kupuna category of our hula competition is open to all hula halau. The competition will feature hula halau who have competed in a regional hula competition in Miyazaki, Japan this past June as well as by special invitation.
The Moku O Keawe International Festival has a lot to offer and I invite you to come share and learn what it’s all about.
